The basal idea underlying this project is using synthetic DNA of a predefined sequence as the physical support on which to write information, exactly like nature did in the millions of years of life evolution on the earth. A code has been generated at GENTRAS to reproduce a miniaturized barcoding system. For all the extrinsic barcoding applications the synthetic, double stranded DNA will be protected at the 5’ and 3’ ends by chemical modifications, to improve stability. In this way a “sender” can deliver complex messages to a recipient also to add externally generated information to standard genotyping, avoiding in this way complex and expensive procedures of physical tagging by conventional devices or microchips.
