paternity testing can be legal, when it is requested by a court authority and represents legal proof in paternity exclusion or attribution, or informative, when a private citizen asks for it outside legal usefulness. The number of legal tests in the US, performed by laboratories authorized by the legal authorities to be providers of justice courts, has more than doubled in the US from 1991 to 2001.

A very recent estimate states that 15% of the US/European population would require parentage testing services (legal or informative or both) at some point in their lives. This analysis produces a projection for the gross profit in DNA paternity testing in the US market for the next year in 150 millions of dollars, and similar numbers can be estimated for Europe.

GENTRAS has developed its own technological solutions to provide paternity testing following the international FBI CODIS standard, employing a panel of 13 highly polymorphic STRs which are now adopted by most government in the world, giving an accuracy of 99.9999% in paternity discrepancy identification.

GENTRAS is provider of paternity testing applications to laboratories, physicians, and courts through its affiliated experts.
